Optimising The Internet Pipes

[The Internet] is a series of tubes. And if you don't understand, those tubes can be filled and if they are filled, when you put your message in, it gets in line and it's going to be delayed by anyone that puts into that tube enormous amounts of material, enormous amounts of material.

Gutentag Everybody

I’ve notice that the loading time of the Plume blog is somewhat slow to load and that the data transfer is a bit wild, so I’ve made a couple of backend changes to how the static media are loaded.

Instead of pulling from the Plume server directly, I get apache to do some crafty redirects on the media to fetch it from the CDN instead where the caching can be managed a bit better.

I’m hoping that this little change isn’t going to completely break federation or cause problems here, but this post is basically the second part of this whole testing business (and that’s why there are a couple of not so relevant images here).

Series of tubes senator

edit : so it seems that the masthead banner on the post isn’t federating correctly

Ugh I broke it
